Smithfield is located in Belfast and is quite a great place to shop for a variety of things. I do, however, admit that the area is very run down and appears shabby and sleazy. There is absolutely no place to part, and walking down the area is just as painful.
Therefore, unless you can brave these inconveniences, you may want to stay away from it. On the other hand, if you think this doesn't matter much, you're in for some great deals.
Apart from the fact that I got to buy meat at a very cheap rate, I liked the fact that there were so many useful stores around such as the one that sold carpets and second hand goods. I got myself a great carpet for very less and a beautiful lamp that was on display at the seconds store.
You can find almost anything you want in there -- an old comic book or even a cheap barber. There is also a shop that sells Carribean food; the place also has a good number of cafes that you can stop at while you take a break from all the shopping.
